  1. Yes you don’t need to dig a well in order to make this happen, trust me small things do a lot. You can help a person feel more confident and powerful even by giving a small compliment like ‘you are really talented’ or ‘I love your driving skills”, believe me it can help that person like magic. Another thing which can help a person feel better about himself is when someone can give them a ear. Listen to them, make them realize that their talk is making sense and their opinion matter. Run meetings with an open, discussion oriented atmosphere. Whether at work or in a larger community sense, let everyone know their opinion is valued.
    Also, if you notice someone has a talent that they aren’t putting to use, let them know. Gently offer suggestions of where they may go to learn more. If the child you are mentoring is constantly doodling, for example, get them signed up for an art class. Every one of us has the magic power of empowering other people simply by generously giving praise and showing encouragement instead of criticism to help them realize their potential.
