Market research can be classified into following two types:
1. Problem-identification research: It is a research that is undertaken to help identify problems that are not necessarily visible on the surface but exist or are likely to arise in the future.
Problem-identification research may include market potential search, market share research, forecasting research, etc.
2. Problem-solving research: It is a research that is undertaken to help solve specific marketing problems.
Segmentation research, product research, pricing research are some types of problem solving research.
