A chief executive officer, CEO is the highest-ranking executive in a company, whose primary responsibilities include making major corporate decisions, managing the overall operations and resources of a company, acting as the main point of communication between the board of directors and corporate operations and being the public face of the company. A CEO is elected by the board and its shareholders. The CEO is responsible for integrating company policy into day-to-day operations, the CEO often fills the role of chairman of the board. In the non-profit and government sector, CEOs typically aim at achieving outcomes related to the organization’s mission, such as reducing poverty, increasing literacy, etc. As a leader of the company, the CEO advises the board of directors, motivates employees, and drives change within the organization. As a manager, the CEO presides over the organization’s day-to-day operations.
