    A target market refers to a group of potential customers to whom a company wants to sell its products and services. This group also includes specific customers to whom a company directs its marketing efforts. A target market is one part of the total market for a good or service.

    In simple terms, Business deal in products that are more likely to be bought by some consumers more than the other consumers. These consumers who have the demand and the purchasing power are termed as potential customers. The group of these potential customers is termed as target market by the businesses.
    For instance a business dealing in school uniforms, their target market would be the students of the schools these businesses are dealing with.
